The related services 'team' consists of an Occupational Therapist, Ms. Hall, and two Speech-Language Pathologists, Mrs. Lodge and Ms. Cox. These service providers work with preschool students, (ages 3-5), as well as students in our regular education, and Communication and Learning Support classrooms (CALS). The role of these related service providers is to facilitate classroom learning, by providing therapy support as needed. The related service 'team' also provides informal consultation to teachers and parents, regarding speech, language, writing, fine motor and gross motor skill development.
Our Speech-Language Therapists provide support to children from preschool to grade 5, in order to promote classroom learning and success. Therapy may address needs related to: receptive/expressive language development, stuttering, voice disorders, augmentative communication and speech/articulation. Preschool-age children are identified for services through Baltimore County’s Child Find Program. All of the students in our three CALS classrooms receive therapy services to develop listening, speaking, functional communication and pragmatic language skills. Individualized speech-language therapy support provides additional instruction which increases a student’s ability to use speech-language and communication skills successfully in every educational environment.
