I began my college career, not with the hopes of becoming an educator, but with the desire to become a computer accountant. It took only a few semesters for me to realize that crunching numbers and sitting in front of a computer were not my cups of tea. With some encouragement from friends, I began taking education classes. It was during that time I became hooked on teaching .I graduated from Villa Julie College with an Elementary Education degree in December of 1995, and in the spring of 1996 I was hired as a long term substitute for a second grade classroom here at TES. I was thrilled to be brought on as a full time teacher by the end of that school year.
Second grade is where I stayed until I received my graduate degree in Reading Education from Towson University. I spent two years working as Timonium’s reading specialist, servicing children in kindergarten, first, second, and fifth grades. I enjoyed the chance to work with many TES students, and I learned a great deal about reading instruction while holding that position, but I missed the classroom atmosphere and teaching multiple subjects. It was back to second grade for me! After many years teaching in second grade, I'm looking forward to a new adventure on the third grade team!
I am incredibly fortunate to have spent my entire teaching career at such a wonderful elementary school. The teachers/staff and TES families are dedicated to making learning a number one priority for all children.

I have always known that I wanted to work with children. I changed from wanting to become a pediatric nurse to an elementary educator during high school. Attending the College of New Jersey provided a strong foundation in pedagogy from a college that started out as a Normal School. I graduated with my teaching degree, but also a specialty in Math. I moved to Maryland after graduation and enjoyed the first five years of teaching in Prince George's as a 6th and then third grade teacher. During this time, I completed my Master's in Instructional Technology. This has prepared me for many of the changes that have come during my career.
I found my love of teaching Math when I returned to work from staying home with my two boys. I worked as a math resource teacher for 13 years at Middlesex Elementary School. Ten of those years I spend teaching the Advanced 5 Math class and a combination of the Advanced 4 or Advance 3 Math classes.
Looking for a change brought me to Timonium, and I am so happy to be a part of this amazing community. From the students to the staff and the parents, it has been a great transition and a wonderful experience. It is clear that all stakeholders are interested in creating a positive environment for our students to learn and grow.

I didn't always know I wanted to be a teacher, but in highschool my love for learning and being creative led me to my passion for teaching. I attended Towson University for my undergraduate degrees as well as my master's degree. I received my undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Deaf Studies. I enjoyed learning sign language in college and working with deaf and hard of hearing students in my teaching internships. I went on to get my master's degree in Reading Education. Since starting my career in 2005, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at two different schools. For fun, I love to cook, take pictures, plan vacations, do crafts, spend time with my family, and work outside. I also love cheering on my favorite sports teams. I grew up in the Baltimore County Public School system. Now, not only do I teach in the same school system, but I am watching my own kids go through attending the same schools that I did. I am excited to be a part of the third grade team at Timonium.
